Mig Tungsten Carbide is a welding process that deposits extremely hard tungsten carbide particles (70 Rc) in the weld puddle of a hardfacing wire as it is applied.

Mig Carbide is unsurpassed in abrasion and impact resistance when applied with POSTALLOY PS-98. This is because softer wires wear away allowing the tungsten carbide to literally fall off the wear surface. POSTALLOY PS-98, with a hardness of up to 60 Rc, prevents this from happening.

Product Description

When protection with tungsten carbide is needed, Postalloy® 219HD is an ideal choice. Weld deposits contain tungsten carbide in a chromium cobalt rich matrix, providing a good combination of abrasion resistance with impact toughness. Other features include:
   • Easy out-of-position weldability with the 1/4" diameter
   • Excellent AC or DC operation, even on a "buzz box"
   • Low amperage and high metal recovery - no slag to chip
   • High deposition rates - up to 3 times faster than ordinary electrodes
   • Moisture resistant coating, even under severe weather or high humidity
Postalloy® 219HD hardfacing is a unique concept in hard facing technology and is over 90% efficient. It's tubular design offers very smooth operational characteristics and permits higher travel speeds and much higher percentages of carbide forming elements contained in the core as compared to ordinary flux-coated electrodes.

Postalloy® 220HD contains increased levels of tungsten carbide compared to Postalloy® 219HD, with additional chrome and cobalt for toughness. The unique blend of Tungsten Carbide and Chrome provides a high polish in service to reduce the coefficient of friction. When protection against severe abrasion is needed, Postalloy® 220HD is an ideal choice.

Tungsten Carbide Wire: Metal-cored, open-arc
Product Description

Postalloy® TungGuard™ 299-MCO is an open-arc hardfacing overlay that utilizes a specially formulated tungsten carbide to produce a "highly feathered" microstructure that is unusually hard and more abrasion resistant than standard tungsten carbide hardfacing wires. Operates at lower than normal currents to minimize dilution and help develop its high hardness and unique microstructure in the first layer. For extreme earth abrasion resistance with little or no impact.

Powder: Nickel Base Self-Fluxing Powder with Tungsten Carbide
Product Description

Postalloy® CP63070-M is a nickel base self-fluxing powder alloy combined with a very special high carbon tungsten carbide grade to produce the highest amount of abrasion resistance possible. The matrix that encapsulates the carbides has a hardness of 55–60 RC.
The Tungsten Carbide in CP63070 has a very high hardness with a very dense, uniform crystalline structure.
The residual stresses are far lower than conventional tungsten carbide, providing better toughness and impact resistance.
The particles have almost no microdefects, enhancing the wettability characteristics.
The low fusing temperature of this alloy combined with cobalt-free carbides help to reduce solution alloying and melting of the carbides.
The tungsten carbide used is this product goes through an oxidation reduction process that reduces the oxidation potential of this alloy. This helps to reduce unwanted overspray and gives the operator more control of the puddle.

Postalloy® CP63070-M uses the same nickel base self-fluxing powder alloy, but with a more economical, less abrasion resistance and less impact resistant tungsten carbide. Designed for less abrasive wear environments or when maximum abrasion resistance is not required.

Nickel base Tungsten Carbide Wire: Metal-cored, Gas-shielded

Product Description

Postalloy® TungGuard™ PS-11W with Reactive Core Technology™ (RCT) is a non-cracking nickel base hardfacing cored wire containing a special blend of tungsten carbides for extreme abrasion as well as corrosion. The matrix is resistant to acids, bases, lye and other corrosive media. This alloy can be applied crack-free with the proper welding procedures. The alloying elements in the wire produce a higher hardness weld deposit that encapsulates and protects the carbide particles, reducing the premature wear caused by erosion to the carbide particles. As a result it achieves a considerable service life improvement in extreme applications compared to PS-10 which it has replaced. The alloy has a low melting range and features good weldability with a smooth arc, reduces weld dilution and carbide dilution to produce a truly outstanding multi-wear wire. Use on low carbon mild and low alloy steels, stainless, nickel and cast iron.

Tungsten Carbide Carbide Embedding (Mig Carbide).

Product Description

Postalloy® PS-98 Matrix hardfacing wire, alloyed with chromium and molybdenum is developed primarily to be used in conjunction with the MIG Carbide Embedding process. PS-98 Matrix provides a clean, molten and fluid weld bead that readily accepts tungsten carbide grit.

Improves the performance of MIG Tungsten Carbide embedded parts
• Hardness of 55-59Rc protects the tungsten carbide grit which has a hardness in excess of 75Rc.
• The molten weld results in an even distribution of carbide particles throughout the entire weld deposit.

Unlike soft metal steel welding wires which are commonly used with the MIG Carbide Embedding Process, the high hardness tool steel micro-structure of Postalloy® PS-98 Matrix is designed to encapsulate and protect the carbide particles from premature erosion. Use on carbon, low alloy steel and manganese steel.

Product Description

Tungsten Carbide is one of the best materials to protect equipment against abrasion, especially for industries such as construction, mining, land clearing and wood or debris waste, and forestry wood grinding. The most efficient method to deposit tungsten carbide is to use the tungsten carbide embedding process using Postle's vibratory feeder, combined with our Sintered Tungsten Carbide Grit and weld matrix wire, PS-98.
